Washington Is First State to Require LEED Cerification
SEATTLE—Washington has become the first state to require new, publicly funded buildings to meet a national environmental standard. The law, which takes effect this summer, requires all publicly funded buildings over 5,000 ft2 (465 m2) to meet the silver level of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® certification program.
