LEED®-NC version 2.2 Member Ballot is Open

As the first commercially successful green building rating system in the U.S., LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC) has had an unprecedented positive impact on building design and construction practices both domestically and internationally. Over the course of the past 5 ½ years while project teams have been using LEED-NC, USGBC volunteers, consultants and staff have been working with project teams to identify opportunities to optimize or clarify credits. LEED-NC Version 2.1 was an un-balloted update, which included process and documentation changes, but no substance changes. Our goal in the development of LEED-NC v2.2 was to incorporate recent advances in building technology (updated codes, etc.) and lessons learned from project experiences to create smarter credits that can accelerate market transformation.

This new version 2.2 contains substantive changes to credits in the rating system, therefore it requires a member ballot.

The member ballot is the final step in the process used to develop, test, evaluate, revise and publish LEED rating systems. Voting instructions were sent by email to the primary contact for each member organization this week. Your organization is strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to the evolution of the LEED Green Building Rating System™.

Period for Vote
In accordance with the USGBC Balloting Policy, the ballot period will be open for 30 days from Wednesday, September 28, 2005 through Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
